This video was shot from Grand Ferry Park, near the Williamsburg Bridge, in Brooklyn, by Mike Ballou, and shows the collapse of the World Trade Center towers, on the morning of #September11 2001.
The collapse of the Twin Towers on 9/11 was caused by a combination of aircraft impact damage and intense, multi-floor fires that weakened the steel structure, leading to a progressive, unstoppable chain reaction of floor failures and a total structural collapse. The planes severed support columns and dislodged fireproofing, while the burning jet fuel ignited office materials, causing steel to sag, floors to pull inward, and ultimately the buildings to fall under their own immense weight.
The time between the collapse of the two Twin Towers was 29 minutes. The South Tower collapsed first at 9:59 a.m. and the North Tower followed at 10:28 a.m.
