The Dark Knight’ın efsanevi sorgu sahnesinde muhtemelen izlerken fark etmediğiniz çok güzel bir detay var. Christopher Nolan bu sahnede sinemanın en temel kurallarından biri olan 180 derece kuralını bilinçli olarak bozuyor. Nedir bu 180 derece kuralı? 180 derece kuralı, karşılıklı duran iki karakterin ekrandaki konumlarının ve bakış yönlerinin tutarlı kalmasını sağlayan temel bir çekim prensibi. Nolan ise Batman ve Joker’in karşı karşıya geldiği bu sahnede kamerayı yavaş yavaş bu hayali çizginin diğer tarafına geçiriyor. Böylece ikilinin ekrandaki konumları tersine dönüyor. Ve bunun rastlantı olduğunu düşünmek biraz zor. Çünkü Joker’in bütün felsefesi zaten kuralları yıkmak üzerine kurulu. Sorgu sırasında Batman’a söylediği şu cümle de bunun özeti: “Senin kuralların var. Ve onların seni kurtaracağını sanıyorsun.” Yani Joker’in Batman’ı kendi tek kuralını çiğnemeye zorladığı sahnede, Nolan da sinemanın en temel kurallarından birini çiğniyor. Üstelik kamera çizgiyi geçtikçe sahnedeki hâkimiyet hissi de değişiyor. Başlangıçta sorgulanan kişi Joker gibi görünürken, sahne ilerledikçe kontrolün aslında kimde olduğu konusunda da işler tersine dönüyor. Batman masanın güçlü tarafında olabilir.
