Başlangıçta bireysel ve romantik temalar ön plandayken zamanla toplumsal sorunlara yönelmiş, yaşadığı dönemin siyasal baskılarına karşı eleştirel bir tavır geliştirmiştir. ✍️ “Sanat için sanat” anlayışını benimseyen Servet-i Fünun topluluğu içinde yer almasına rağmen, onun şiirleri yalnızca estetik bir kaygı taşımaz; aynı zamanda güçlü bir fikir dünyasını da yansıtır. “Sis” adlı şiirinde İstanbul’u karanlık ve boğucu bir atmosfer içinde tasvir ederek dönemin istibdat yönetimine yönelik sert bir eleştiri ortaya koymuştur. “Haluk’un Defteri” eserinde ise oğlu Haluk üzerinden çağdaş, bilimsel düşünceye açık ve özgür bireylerden oluşan bir gelecek hayalini dile getirmiştir. 🌍 Galatasaray Lisesi’nde müdürlük yapması, onun eğitim alanında da yenilikçi ve idealist bir aydın olduğunu gösterir. Batı edebiyatından, özellikle Fransız şiirinden etkilenmiş; biçim, ahenk ve dil konusunda titiz bir yaklaşım sergilemiştir.
